The Luis Palau Sacramento Festival is uniting churches to love and serve Sacramento. On January 15th, Mayor Kevin Johnson, Luis Palau and 5,000 others came together to launch the Season of Service. The festival will take place June 16-17, 2012 at the Cal Expo Grounds.

For the first time, I sincerely wanted that difference. I recognized a need and a desire that day and made a move toward faith. But that’s not the whole story…

I was very encouraged by the focus on Christ and Scripture in last year’s royal wedding. I was similarly encouraged by the Queen’s recent Christ-centered Christmas address.

My spiritual journey may be considered ordinary by many. I can’t recall a crisis of faith. I don’t remember experiencing anger or bitterness toward God or the church. And from the earliest of ages I knew that Jesus Christ was the way, the truth, and the life. My story is probably typical of many evangelicals.

Recently, these words from a song by worship leader Tommy Walker have been on my heart: “I still remember the day You saved me, the day I heard You call out my name. You said You loved me and would never leave me, and I’ve never been the same.”

This Christmas, believe that God wants to reach the people in your life that you feel are hopeless. Continue to love them and pray for them. Use this holiday to reach out to them with the Good News.
